An Idea for Starting an Online Shop

Recently, Teecup announced that she opened a blog shop, a web blog and an online shop combined. Have you seen it? If you have the time, go and check it out. She has some nice goodies and information to share and sell.

After, reading her post, I was thinking of the possibility of opening a sort of a blog shop or online shop myself in the future.  If we are going back to the Philippines, then we might as well think of ideas for starting a business.

One idea that popped up in my mind is when I saw this website selling tickets for concerts, sports events and theater shows.  This website called buys and resells a wide array of tickets such as the Enrique Iglesias tickets, All State Arena tickets and Chicago Theater tickets. I'm amazed that they even sell religion-related tickets like the Joel Osteen tickets, that of the "Most Influential Christian in America" in 2006 and the Book of Mormon tickets, that of a satire musical explaining the faith of the Mormons.

Their website caters to people who want to buy tickets for events without having to wait in line or losing the quality seats they desire. This reminds me of the long line of people waiting to get tickets in movie theaters or concerts. I was there in SM Mall of Asia when Justin Bieber had his concert last May (though I didn't watch it) and saw the many people waiting in line. What if one could tap into this niche in the Philippines and open an online ticket shop?  Why not? There are many doing this in the travel industry. Maybe, many bloggers can do this especially those who like doing movie, concerts and other entertainment reviews.

I wonder if this idea is feasible or if someone is already doing it?  Anyway, that is just a thought. Let me know what you think.  Feel free also to share your ideas of what type of online shop would be good to engage in.

  1. Hi Chin! That would be a great idea! Something I haven't heard anyone else doing it yet. I myself, also wish to have one online shop but in choosing what kind of shop to open, perhaps you could consider what is your passion and what you are good at. That way, work will be somewhat fun and interesting!

    God Bless!

  2. any successful business entails a lot of hardwork and sacrifice but I agree with Krizza that it would much enjoyable if your business is somewhat related to your passion and interest..

opening an online ticket shop might somehow work since many people nowadays preferred to do things online. Good luck to your endeavor and praying for your plans chin...

  3. I agree with both of you Krizza and Rovie. Pursuing a business that is passion driven will be more fun and probably longer lasting.

  4. Hi Chin, thank you for the mention! I've just resumed blog hopping and normal blogging. My shop is about 90 percent done, so I'm going to let things sit still for a while and revert to my first love: writing. :) I agree with you that it's a good idea to invest in a business that's close to your heart. If you're all about tickets and all, I say go for it - as long as you know where to find your potential customers. Tickets like those target people who can afford and are willing to shell out thousands just to view a concert... I think you're off to a good start :)

  5. No problem, shopping bug. Glad to know your shop is almost done. It's worth the time you spent setting it up. Re the ticket shop, I'm still thinking if its worth pursuing or if I can do it.

  6. I haven't heard anything of this kind. If you feel like doing it, then go! Or you may start something that you really love. I've seen a lot of mommy bloggers who are successful at establishing their own online business. Almost lahat kasi ng binabasa kong blog are own by mommy bloggers. I've been thinking of doing the same since few years back. Done several research and now finding for the suppliers. Since that "unfortunate thing" happen in my life, I know I had to start it now. This side business I'm thinking might at least help my school expenses.

I really appreciate your leaving your thoughts. Thank you.
